When I first established InsideOutCreativeArts, I focused solely on advertising and branding. It wasn’t long, however, before I was introduced to the world of publishing.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an amazing team of talented professionals on some truly great projects. It’s one thing to relax and get lost in a great book, but it’s an entirely different experience altogether to participate in the creation of a book that thousands of people will read. Great books have the ability to change lives and transform culture, and it’s my desire to serve the authors and publishers on the forefront of it all.

While I love designing book covers, I also thoroughly enjoy the challenges that come with unique projects as well. I especially enjoy working on campaigns that need careful consideration in regard to design and staying on brand with a consistent look and message. I believe that passion, persistence, and experience are vital components needed to create brand-relevant and effective designs.

InsideOutCreativeArts can help you take any project from a simple idea to a finished product and into the hands of your customers. I look forward to serving you.

ENDORSEMENTS

Rob and my friends at InsideOut Creative Arts have always been just what I needed—creative solutions at a fair price. And always on time. What more can I ask????
— Bruce R. Barbour • Founder, Literary Management Group, LLC • Nashville, Tennessee
Rob Williams and I worked together for 19 years while employed at Gospel Light. It is a privilege to recommend him on several levels.

In his work on cover designs, his knowledge of the industry (self-discovered), his grasp of a books’ content (gleaned from meticulous reading through book proposals) and the author and his or her ministry led him to create some of the best cover designs in the publishing industry. He continues to be sought after by other publishers and authors with whom he worked for many years.

Along with his creative side, Rob is also very strategic in how he approaches his many tasks and accomplishes them all so well. He is also very curious, which has made all aspects of his work even better as he has given much of his time to learn about trends, new techniques, other design choices, etc.

One of Rob’s strongest characteristics is his thoughtfulness. He gives deep thought to the way he does the things he does. When he shares his reasons behind things, it makes so much sense you wonder why everyone doesn’t think that way. He is also very thoughtful toward his colleagues. He doesn’t like to let things sit. If he senses there is something that needs to be discussed, he will tactfully and kindly approach the subject. Because he is willing to do that, communication is kept open and the team is made stronger.

Rob Williams is one of the finest designers I’ve ever worked with. Not only is he skilled as a designer, but he is also a fantastic art director and creative director. He is good at everything from big-picture concepts through all the technical details of completing printer-ready files. His projects always come back having printed beautifully. I enjoy working with Rob because he has an easygoing and pleasant nature, and is always ready to serve. From my experience, Rob will do whatever it takes to get a job done with excellence and on time. I highly recommend him to any organization.

I have used Rob Williams of InsideOut Creative Arts on four different occasions for book covers as well as formatting the inside of the books. I am very pleased with all of the work Rob has done for me. Not only is he professional, but I think he is in the top tier of his profession. I have a fifth book which will be released shortly and Rob Williams will also do that project.
— Elmer Towns • Co-Founder, Liberty University • Lynchburg, Virginia
Rob Williams is one of the premier designers in the Christian publishing industry. Throughout his career he has consistently delivered design concepts and finished covers that stand apart from the typical products coming from most publishers. What I loved about working with Rob is that he understands how important a cover is to the success of a book. That’s why he doesn’t just deliver outstanding cover designs. He is also proficient in the art of title and subtitle creation. Because Rob wants to understand what the author is trying to say, he immerses himself in the content of each project he is assigned so the cover and title can accurately convey the core message.

In my opinion and experience, Rob’s designs make it possible to judge a book by its cover, because the covers he creates beautifully and compellingly tell the story of each book he touches.
— Stan Jantz • Co-Founder, Conversant Media Group • Former Publishing Director, Regal Books • Ventura, California
I had the pleasure of working with Rob for more than 8 years. While I myself am not an artist, I know and have heard enough to know that his artwork, especially his book cover design, is some of the best in the business. But more than that, Rob understands what it takes to create a brand, build it, launch it and sustain it. Rob is timely and takes his work very seriously. I would highly recommend Rob Williams.
— Todd White • Former CFO & VP of Finance • Gospel Light Publications • Ventura, California
It has been my pleasure to work with Rob Williams over the last few years. I find him to be extremely creative, a careful and accurate workman, and an all-round good guy. When needed to make changes, he made them willingly and in a timely manner. I know that whoever uses his services will be glad they made that decision.
— Gwen Ellis • President, Seaside Creative Services • Old Hickory, Tennessee
Rob provided stellar creative direction to Gospel Light for many years in our Regal book line and most recently for our Vacation Bible School as well as our Sunday School curriculum re-brand project. Rob knows how to deliver the essence of a message in compelling presentations that invite customers to respond. He takes direction and delivers results on time and within budget. In my many years in the publishing industry I found Rob to be one of the most talented designers I’ve ever worked with. I highly recommend him and his work to you if you’re looking for elegant and effective design that gets results.
— Dave Thornton • CEO • Gospel Light Publications • Ventura, California
Rob Williams is one of the most creative designers and artists that I have ever worked with in Christian publishing over the past two decades. His book cover designs always captured the heart of a message and project. I highly recommend Rob’s design services to publishers, authors, and organizations that need beautiful and top quality design work.

About Me

As a Santa Barbara native, I consider it a privilege to still call this town my home. Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to live and work. It’s a vibrant city, and as an artist I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by so many other creative people. My family is my main hobby (I have three boys and am married to an amazing woman). I also enjoy biking and other outdoor activities. I received my formal training from The Art Institute of California, San Diego (formerly The Advertising Arts College), where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Communication Arts. Nothing, however, compares to the continual on-the-job training and real-life experience that I’ve accumulated since that time.
